TESTIMONIALS
Melinda N.
We were delighted with Ben's assistance in preparing my son for his AP English Language and Composition exam in 2020. My son scored a 5 after his diligent preparation with Ben, and his writing improved markedly from the work. We are so grateful to Ben for his help!

Ben is a gifted tutor, combining exceptional teaching and a natural rapport with his students. His well-thought-out approach and guidance helped my son learn a great deal and improve his ACT Verbal score close to 5 points, enabling him to more confidently and successfully get accepted to his top-choice colleges. Following each tutoring session, Ben sent detailed summaries and next steps, which went a long way to keep my husband and me in the loop.

Ben is a skilled, lucid and patient teacher. But what struck me most
about the tutoring Ben provided my son in preparation for the SAT verbal section was the ethical clarity and generosity with which he was able to reconcile the pragmatic aspects of his job with his commitment to transparency. His work involves teaching students the skills they need to do well on tests that those students – and their parents -- understand to have an outsized role in determining their life prospects. Ben recognizes the anxiety that his students likely bring to their lessons with him, and teaches in ways designed to mitigate that anxiety. But Ben is equally scrupulous about not taking advantage of his students or their parents for his own financial interests. While he could endlessly monetize such worry, when, several months before my son’s scheduled SAT date, Ben said, “I don’t think your son needs to schedule any more lessons; he’s ready to go,” I recognized Ben to be not only an excellent teacher but a good person as well.

I cannot recommend Ben Richardson enough as an SAT tutor. Rather than simply showing me the answers to the questions I got wrong, Ben would guide me through the question and subtly points out where precisely I had made my mistake. This pedagogical process, along with the practical tips Ben gave me, made both the Reading and Writing sections into a breeze. Meeting with Ben reliably led to an immediate jump in my practice tests scores. Ben Richardson knows what he is doing and with his help, you will know what you are doing.
